And I am super pumped to see who takes home the prize of FIVE FREAKIN GRAND! It's the BHG's & Home Depot's 48 challenge!!! Unless you have no idea, I am completely obsessed with This Young House. Let's put it this way - Sherry is Angelina and I am Octo-mom. So it's not a surprise that I am gunnin' for them to win.
It's also no surprise that I like to paste my head on pictures of their friends. That's not creepy Sherry...that's devotion :) Isn't my boyfriend just striking?!?!
So now that you know that I think their blog is the cat's meow, you can only imagine my disappointment when I saw they were runnin' 3rd. So I thought I would put my two cents in.
10 REASONS YOU SHOULD VOTE FOR TYH EVERYDAY FOR THE REST OF YOUR LIFE:
1. They design super-swanky rooms super-swanky-like
2. They are amateur renovators, just like you & me
3. Edward Cullen would if Edward Cullen was a nonfictional person
4. A vote for TYH is a vote for puppies
5. If they win, world hunger will be no more
6. When you vote, you will lose weight instantly
7. After 5 days of voting, your children will do better in school
8. If you don't vote, I can't promise bladder control will be easy
9. TYH is uber-educational (I dare ya not to learn something)
10. Chuck Norris did.

And if that doesn't do it...just look at poor Sher-Sher painting her porch while nine months pregnant. C'mon people, vote with your heart.
And for your voting convenience, I added a little yellow button on my sidebar...just remember you can vote every single day....till the day you die or till the contest is over...whichever comes first. More Bower Power to ya, This Young House!
****This post was not approved or endorsed by TYH!!! Also, I have knocked up Sherry with Paint. As far as I know, only her heart is impregnanted with love...no baby human is growing in her uterus. Unfortunately, I am not close enough to Sherry to know the actual status of her reproductive organs****

OMG, the picture of Sherry painting while pregnant is hilarious!!! You know plenty of people are going to think she's pregnant now.
Yeah---I clicked over to their blog to see if there were any announcements. (Although I also scrolled down to see if it was BP announcement)
Hilarious!
You are too funny! Haha, Way to work the voters over! I'm sure those two will be cracking up when they see it.
LOL!! That is awesome. Once I had a dream about John and Sherry....that is when you know I read their blog too much! Yikes!
you just started what is going to be the biggest rumor in blogland! hysterical!
I love Sherry and TYH. And I voted :) I want them to win so bad!!
haha! Love your mad photo editing, Katie!
Katie
Such a rumor starter - made me look twice! I heart this blog too!
Hilarious!
OMG, you crack me up! I freaked out for a second wondering how I missed that Sherry is preggers!
I'm addicted to both of you!
This was really funny. I love both Making It Lovely and This Young House and realized the only way I could vote was to vote one or the other every other day!
I could not decide between the two! Love you both!
can you say s t a l k e r ....?
What's up with the stalker comment - creapy!!
omg your Paint abilities never cease to amaze me! this is cracking me up, thank you...
Dearest Anon,
Stalker, True Love, Potatoes, Pahtahtoes. Either way those Youngsters rock my world...and hopefully the vote!

yeah, the whole "borderline" stalker thing is just fine... until the line is crossed. Personally, I will be watching the news for the breaking story..."Katie Bower, well known blogger and psyco-stalker, murdered Sherry Petersik late yesterday afternoon. Apparently, the two bloggers had a disagreement over paint color and Katie whapped Sherry over the head with a hammer..." :o)
May I say that I read both TYH and MIL blogs and I didn't find it funny or nice to have a picture of someone pregnant painting floors. Nicole actually did is and if you never been pregnant you don't know how hard it is.
Making fun of other people's pain is not an act of kindness in my book.
I'm with Janegal. I think this post is very poor taste.
Yeah... that was a pretty catty swipe at Nicole at MIL. What happened? Did she rebuff your blog-crush advances? These seem like the photoshop endeavors of a spurned blogger.
I have to agree with the last three posters. Disclaimer here: I am Nicole's (MIL) mom so I therefore am biased but I also read TYH on occasion and find these folks to be very talented as well. I find this post in poor taste. Painting the porch floor while nine months pregnant was a reality not a "pull on your heartstrings" marketing move.
The opportunity came at a very inopportune time, but Nicole was confident she could complete the project and fulfill her obligations without compromising quality.
I have seen some commentors get really ugly on occasion and have read how very hurtful those comments are to the blogger. I hope Nicole does not see this post, for two reasons - one so she isn't hurt by the meanness of it and two - beacause she would kill me for even opening my mouth and defending her but I am doing it anyway, and not hiding behind anonymity. This is what a mother does when someone makes fun of their child. Although I must say that you are usually dealing with children when that happens.
May the best project win, based on the hard work and creativity of the bloggers involved. This was a very grammar school, "don't play with her" post to write.
Well said Nicole's mom!
I'm so glad Nicole's mom left a comment. Bower Power, I know you are so happy about your new special friends, but really ... why make fun of someone else? 'Sperminated?' How rude. Now I'm DEFINITELY voting for Nicole. I'm sorry - I only found your blog through TYH, but I won't be back. In TYH, I appreciate their positivity, regular posting, thriftiness, and good taste. On the other hand, as someone who has actually HAD a baby and still manages to keep up a large house and a full-time job as a newspaper lifestyle editor, I think you lack a sense of empathy for others and an understanding of your readers. You don't have to be cruel to hang with the 'cool kids.' A little more humility, less 'me me me' and some grown-up empathy would keep readers coming back.
Couldn't agree more PatT and CoolDoesn'tMeanCruel.
I see everyone's point in being upset, however I am sure that Katie did not mean this to be offensive or malicious to anyone else. If you've ever read any other posts, you would see that her sense of humor is always sarcastic and biting at times - this is nothing out of the ordinary! Of course this humor doesn't agree with everyone, but I don't think it's necessary to rail on her for what she thinks is funny. Just like a comedian you don't find funny, don't listen. But I'm sure you don't go to their websites and tell them off.
As for YOU, Katie - 1. I guess since you have critics you truly can count yourself as a success! Yay! and 2. Sperm-inated IS hilarious, I can't wait to use it for myself! In fact, it will probably go on the announcements! Just not on grandma's... hehe.
Anon - you think I am "a well known blogger"? Really?!? YAY!
XO - Katie
Dear Pat T -
Just to clarify, this post was not meant in any way to take away from what Nicole has accomplished...which was a creative & fabulous front porch makeover. It was my feeble attempt at humor to encourage votes for TYH. Obviously, I am biased toward Sherry & used my little blog to emplore various methods to sway my ten readers toward voting for my friend - such as peer pressure from Chuck Norris & Edward Cullen, bribery of good grades & a solution to world hunger, empathy towards pregnancy & puppies & even threats of incontinence. I wrote this not to be malicious or demeaning toward anyone but to bring a smile to the faces who read it.
I think very highly of your daughter - and I am still amazed that she rocked out this contest while 9 months pregnant.
Finally, a big high five to you and Nicole for the new addition to your family. Eleanor is an exquisitely beautiful baby. Congratulations!
XO - Katie
This is a comment for HOLLY - the whole point of blogging is putting your thoughts and opinions (and sarcastic comments - maliciously intended or not) into the PUBLIC domain. If Katie doesn't want people to comment on her blog, for the good or the bad, then she shouldn't be blogging! For the most part, it seems like Katie receives a wealth of positive comments on her blog. So, the 5 or 6 negative comments she has received on this one post hardly constitutes "railing on her". I appreciate that you are probably protecting your friend ... but that's what Nicole's mom and other supporters are doing for her also. I think there is a lesson to be learnt from all this - it seems that Katie has greatly increased her readership through her affiliation with Sherry at TYH. A lot of people that read TYH also read MIL (and other cool blogs). With increased readership comes more responsibility, so from now on in, Katie might benefit from being more careful with her sarcasm.
Dear ANONYMOUS -
Good thing I don't have my own blog for you to comment on. But I suppose I'm entitled to an opinion as well, so there's no point in arguing further.
Come on, guys? Why so serious?! It's a fun blog, a fun contest, and I'd bet Nicole would even think the comments chuckle-worthy.
Being a mom to 2, I remember doing some pretty dang crazy things while pregnant - like hanging wallpaper at 4 a.m. with my supply of my fav crave - KFC's mashed potatoes and gravy (stock-piled in the fridge) in one hand. Eight months pregnant, and using my beloved baby bump as a shelf. My friends that were in attendance still joke about it to this day (yes, the belly area of the wallpaper stuck first).
Is everyone is so busy trying to be "PC" that they forget to enjoy a sense of humor?
