Dear Anonymous Please Be My Friend

I have a confession. I am un-pc. But most of you already knew that.
I am not confessing it because I want to change though. In fact, I kinda like the way I am. And since I'm not going to run for a political office or try to be the head of a PTA, I feel like I can get away with it for now. It's like eating a bar of chocolate everyday when you are twelve...you aren't supposed to but you don't reap the harsh consequences because your metabolism still loves you.
The key thing is, that I am not a cruel or descriminatory person. I am very scriminatory :) Most of the things that I say that are un-politically correct are in the form of a joke. And that's how I roll. In fact, I have never had much of a filter. That is just who I am. And I figure that I have good company with these VERY un-pc peeps:
  • Ghandi
  • Abraham Lincoln
  • Nelson Mandela
  • Jesus
So that being said, I just HAD to share this conversation that I had with a mysterious Bower Power reader (I know almost all fourteen of them so this must be a lurker). Apparently I offended them with my too-short-for-Bob-daybed post. Please read this:

and my response:

And then Anonymous (and please dear God make it the same Anonymous!) says:

So my sweet loving Anonymous, I come to you with this request: Please, please, please be my friend. Crazy as it may seem but I like you. I really like you. Your sense of humor with that last comment had me rolling. I laughed so hard I almost choked on my saliva. I really want to be your friend in flesh and blood. The confrontation about my totally un-pc comment is who you are - and it doesn't put me off in the least. As a friend, I can buy you gifts - it is my love language afterall. I am being completely serious.

Plus, you paid me the biggest compliment of them all...you lurked. By doing that, you said Bower Power was lurk-worthy. Bless you dear sweet Anonymous! You really made my day!

LMAO. If Anon doens't want to be your friend, will you settle for me? I can be a total b*tch (censoring myself for your readers, I don't need any hate comments, my self esteem is still recovering from the girls who didn't like my office makeover :D). I accept all gifts from IKEA, and my love language is gifts too, so this should really work out perfectly.

That's fantastic! You have to love someone pointing out that you're being un-pc and then post an un-pc response. That's perfect logic right there!

Jaclyn said...

Oh my gosh, you crack me up! I'm un-pc and don't give a darn either. Seriously, who is pc these days?

Christi said...

Ok that is hilarious! you go girl...i like you for your honesty! =)

First: I'm deemed cool by the coolest, yay me!! LOL

Second: ROFL at Anonymous's response!! How hilarious. That is so funny.

You know what? I'm sick and tired of the PC Police. How boring to live in a vanilla world. Bring on the un-PC humour, it gets me every time.

Jen said...

P.S. Can't believe I'm deemed cool even though I can't even spell "grown up". What a putz.

HAHA! Love it.

Since I might be one of the few who knows our dear Katie in flesh and blood, let me just say that you are awesomely un-PC Katie B. Just one of the many reasons why we roll so well ;-)
For any folks (namely Anon.) who might for an inkling of a second question Katie's sensitivity and just think she's crafty and hilarious, let me (first smack you on the head) tell ya, this girl has probably the most giving, loving, sacrificial hearts evah'.... No Really, EVER.
Love ya girl, sure do miss your smarty-pants!

LOL! Katie you are adorable and I love your blog! um anonymous replied with 'you're so gay.' That isn't very PC of him or her!

I'd like to say:

1) I'm part Chinese
2) I'm 5'5 which is gargantuan for "our peeps".
3) I've never encountered a Chinese stewardess (excuse me flight attendant) but I'm sure they're just lovely.

That is all. Keep up the "un-PC" ness that I know and love dearly, Katie!!

Bower to the 5th Power =)

Hmmm so I keep leaving comments, following your suggestions for a new year's resolution to leave those comments, try to be nice.... hmm. Wish I were a sly person to leave comments like those instead. But I'm not. I'm just another Katie shooting out another comment.

Well, un-pc and all that is alright. But I would think that atleast before putting yourself in the illustrious company, you would be sure to ensure atleast who they are!

Who is Ghandi? I know Mahatma Gandhi! Anyone? :)

I hope you do not delete this comment because it will be too PC then. :)-

Anonymous said...

Oh and I am NOT that Anon poster you talk about! That was too funny I must admit!
But really!

kari said...

LOL! I love it!

Katie said...

LOL - you are right, Anon, I am un-pc and a bad speller...the shame! Maybe I was a wee bit excited about sharing the hilariousness to keep my super-fast typing in check! Or maybe I am just so un-pc that I misspelled on purpose...I guess you'll never know :)

XO - Katie

p.s. Em, Tam, and Katie - yes, we can be virtual BFF's ;) and Steph you are too generous and I miss you. Freckles - I have seen your 5'5 figure in a bathing suit photo and I can positively say that you are anything but gargantuan :)

I LOVE THIS!!!! Oh, girl you crack me up. For real. It sounds like your anonymous is 12 years old and that is so so funny to me. I love how you defend who you are and no one is gonna stop you! :)

Good for you Katie!! I'm with you on no caring what others think... this is of course YOUR BLOG. And how awesome of you to back up your statement. As well, I'd also like to add that it doesn't seem like Anonymous is very "PC" either by using "gay" as an insult...

Darby said...

Katie.
You are such a homosexual.
That's PC.
I'm kidding by the way!
Thanks for making me smile today!
How come people who don't like what you say will only comment anonymously? I had one anonoymous person tell me yesterday that chickens stink and are unromantic... I mean please... I know this. I still want them.

another anonymous lurker coming out of hiding!

as a half-chinese 5'5"-er, let me just say that my asian peeps know that my height is so not the norm. i tower when i'm in an asian* environment, true story.

*wanted to say 'oriental' but i'm pretty sure that's been deemed un-pc... BUT! is it un-pc when an asian person calls herself 'oriental'? to the original anon commenter: thoughts, please.

Joi said...

Katie, you are too cute. Keep being you on your own blog. It's nice isn't it??

Anonymous said...

My personal favorite part of your reply was "and since when are politicians correct anyway?" LOVE IT!

I wanna play :-)

Welcome Grace! It is so nice to meet you!

I love how you are totally quizzing my sweet Anon on PC practices - it's like the Delilah call in radio show here on Bower Power. Go ahead, share your politically correct delimma... it's sounds just like "go ahead and love someone" to me :)

I dedicate this blog post to all the Anons out there...and The Fabulous Side of Me for joining in the fun.

Reading these comments has been the highlight of my day! Congrats to those out there who don't give a rat's ass what other people think!

LOL at all the comments...this post was a riot :)

This is SO funny! Love your funny, funny, un-pc blog!

jeesh! i feel as a lurker i should finally come out and say hello...so hi :) love reading your blog and all the handy house work you do! take care - kellsey

Katie said...

Hola Kellsey - glad you came outta the lurking closet :) It is such a pleasure to meet all the first timers!

Guylian - are you new too? I think so!!! And that makes me oh-so-happy...and I think you nailed it on the head. I can't speak for all the other commenters but you can bet your bottom dollar that I saw Anon's ironic sense of humor...hence the extension of my hand in best-friendship. I feel that every blogger can relate to a common thread here. It's the fact that there are some people out there who choose anonymity when making disagreeable comments. Why? I don't know. But I feel that its ok to disagree just as long as we all maintain our sense of humor...even if your identity remains a mystery.

Thanks to everyone...you guys are seriously making this one heck of a party :)

XO - Katie

OH. MY. GOSH!!! FUNNIEST POST EVER! Seriously. You totally win it for the year. Or should Annonymous win it?? Hmmm???

I'm going to go ponder on that for a bit... or does that make me "gay" by association. (Did you hear that can happen? My friend with no hair told me that...)

Anonymous said...

Oh, and WHOA! Read through responses! I better be part of the virtual bff club or I may cry and never mop a floor again! :P

Katie said...

Katie - it's official, you're in!

And please don't ever threaten to swear off mopping...we need to live vicariously through you...

XO - Katie

ROFL...

I love that the response was you are so gay. Hilarity ensues.

Keep the un-PC coming. If you go PC, I'm not coming back....

SweDaisy said...

Wow Katie, You have really sparked the interest of many. Thanks for the sweet post.

Oh and being un-pc is totally cool with me. I think sometimes people take themselves to seriously and forget to laugh once in a while

Take care,
Lisa

I am so glad that I found your blog and this post! I got my first anonymous hater post the other day. If I continue to get them, I might just have to steal some of your wonderful comebacks! Thanks :)

Katie said...

LC - ahhh, you got your first hater comment! Congrats girl! It will be a moment you will never forget...like the first boy you kiss or the first time you drive a car. At least you know that non-relatives/friends are reading though...it always is an encouragement to me to know that strangers are taking the time to provide a hit to my wee little site :)

And if you ever run out of replies to the haters - do as Tina does...
