Gotcha Covered

About a month ago I gave up trying to find the perfect daybed for my dressing room. I really wanted the West Elm overlapping squares with my heart daybed...

...but alas...my knees vetoed that. Then the ever-fabulous Mrs. Rauth recommended the Tromnes daybed from Ikea. Be still my heart! It looked like the Jennifer Aniston version of the Pottery Barn Jennifer Lopez version. But my Atlanta store didn't carry it....and they wanted me to pay more in shipping than for the actual product.

And when that happens, it's perfectly okay to whip out the Peshawww! (that's my "yea right, that'll happen when Kim Kardashian has a flat booty" word). Try it sometime...it's fun.

So you can imagine my elation when the day after I gave up my search, the Ikea beauty showed up on Craigslist. And at $145 - in brand new condition! Booyah!

Enter yummy linen fabric at $2 a yard.

And an hour later you have a yummy covered mattress on a daybed!

Yes, it still needs a little bit of fitting to make it perfect but for now it helps create a more uniform look. And I can't complain about having a new cover for my mattress for under $10! Plus the linen brings in yet another texture for this come-over-and-touch-me kinda room. Next up - pillows :) And maybe a Chuck Norris joke...we'll see :)

Gorgeous daybed -- and good job on the price! Can we see pics of the whole dressing room? It is really a room just for dressing? If so, I am JEALOUS!!! I adore your blog, keep it up!

Oh I love the cover, and what a deal on the bed! Good work lady. Can't wait for the pillow post (and a view of the entire dressing room..hint hint).

Girl... SHOOT! Your CL skills are out of this world! The bed looks fab as does the mattress cover. I've been thinking about learning to sew, and I feel like it would be extremely helpful. We shall see.

I love it!! Thanks for putting it in your sidebar wish list earlier. It's now on my wish list to use on my screened porch.

What a gem! How do you unearth these fantastic finds things in the most unexpected places? Teach me your ways, K.

Love the texture the linen adds. I bet it offsets the capiz chandy beautifully!

I have a favor to ask.... can you measure the high of the space under the bed?? I have a daybed without a frame, and I'm wondering if the pop-up trundle bed would fit under this ikea frame... if so, I'm driving to the Atl IKEA this weekend to get one :-)
